Dr. Guangping Chen (aka. George Chen) is a Lecturer and Postdoc. at the College of Urban and Environmental Sciences, Central China Normal University (CCNU). He received his Ph.D. jointly from Zhejiang University (ZJU) and the University of Toronto-St. George (UofT) through the China Scholarship Council (CSC) State‑Sponsored Joint Training Program during 2021-2022.

His research interests broadly include optimal allocation of urban and rural public service facilities, spatiotemporal evolution of regional entrepreneurial activities, fine‑scale assessment of urban food environments and its implications for health interventions. He currently serves as the PI of one National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Young Scientists Fund (Category C) project and one Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities project, and has also participated in two NSFC General Program projects. He has published more than ten papers in both Chinese and English journals, including Applied Geography, Geographical Analysis, BMC Public Health, Journal of Transport and Health, International Journal of Remote Sensing, Journal of Geographical Sciences, Geographical Research(地理研究), Scientia Geographica Sinica(地理科学), and Progress in Geography(地理科学进展).

He received "the Excellent Paper Award" from the Zhejiang Geographical Society in 2020 and "the Young Outstanding Presentation Award" from the Geographical Society of China in 2023. He was also named one of the Top Ten Outstanding Public Suggestions of Zhejiang Province in 2021; his work has been reported by Zhejiang Daily (浙江日报) and featured on the Zhejiang Satellite TV Economic Life Channel program Youqing Fayanren(有请发言人).
